Shab 004

$3,250.00

A limited series of evening gowns, or Lebas-e-Shab. One-of-one works handmade upholding couture details and traditions. During the 1990s, Dorriz implemented one of the first uses of Persian hand-writing calligraphy, writings and poetry by Rumi and Hafez, (better known today as Sufi Art) onto textiles - later popularized by many young Iranian artists and designers.

Shab 004 is a two-piece set with hand-painted 4-ply silk bustier with Swarovski crystals and French lace skirt with hand-embellished Swarovski crystals.

The fashion industry is responsible for nearly 10% of global carbon emissions—more than all international flights and maritime shipping combined—and produces 20% of global wastewater, largely from dyeing and textile treatment. This work was custom-made and handcrafted in Southern California with quality textiles. Original garment designs and artwork are the intellectual property of Shahla Dorriz and are protected under applicable copyright, trademark, and design rights law.

Since the 1990s, Shahla Dorriz has worked exclusively in a bespoke model: one-of-one couture, with no garment ever reproduced. Shahla Dorriz preserves a 150-year-old family textile archive from the provinces of Yazd and Esfahan, Iran, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Bukhara, and Baluchistan, including Iranian Qalamkar (blockprinting), soozan-doozi, and gol-dozi works.

This work by Shahla Dorriz is one-of-one, an edition of one. Only one single iteration and edition of this work exists. For this reason, this work is non-refundable and is final sale. Email info@shahladorriz.com for any specific questions about this work.
