She immigrated to Los Angeles to continue her education and attended U.C.S.D. (University of California, San Diego) and F.I.D.M., Los Angeles (Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandise), where she completed her education. Shahla has designed costumes for the series Entertainment Tonight and
All My Children. She has designed Rumi Poetry costumes for Les Ballets
Persanâ Ballet and Seven Beauties & Devine Banquetâ. Many glamorous entertainers have worn her designs during the Emmy Awards and Oscar's including the most alluring "Moon Dress" exclusively made for Ms. Buzz She is best known as the first designer to introduce poetry such as "Rumi", "Hafiz", and "Khayyam" in her clothes. She introduced this line to the public in interviews with E! Channel's host, Lauren Ezersky, of "Behind the Velvet Ropes" in 2001. She has appeared on the show several other times further introducing the beauty of these renowned poems in her gowns to the public. This style and idea has been replicated by many other rising designers in different forms and she has encouraged these reproductions. Shahla is also very well known for using vintage fabrics in her collections. Some of her fabrics are known to be of her great-grandmother's. Above all, she uses only the highest quality textiles.
